The Graphic Design & Social Media Coordinator at the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre serves as the primary graphic designer for organizational marketing materials.
General Description
The Graphic Design & Social Media Coordinator at the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre serves as the primary graphic designer for organizational marketing materials, creating visual assets for productions, concerts, films, fundraising initiatives, rentals, and special events across print and digital platforms. This role also supports The Strand’s social media presence through content planning, scheduling, and audience engagement while helping maintain a cohesive brand identity across platforms.
This role offers opportunities to contribute creatively to one of Georgia’s leading historic arts venues while building a diverse professional portfolio across live entertainment marketing. This role reports directly to the Marketing Manager and works closely with staff across all departments to execute creative campaigns and support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Graphic Design
- Serve as the primary designer for marketing materials supporting productions, concerts, films, educational programs, fundraising initiatives, rentals, special events, and organizational campaigns.
- Create engaging visual content across print and digital platforms, including advertisements, posters, marquees, social media, email campaigns, signage, playbills, and other promotional materials.
- Ensure all visual content aligns with The Strand’s branding and design standards.
- Resize and adapt artwork across multiple formats and platforms.
- Organize and maintain digital asset libraries for easy access and consistency.
Social Media Management
- Assist with planning, creating, scheduling, and publishing content across The Strand’s social media platforms while maintaining a consistent brand voice and visual identity.
- Maintain a consistent voice and visual identity across social channels.
- Capture or assist in capturing event and behind-the-scenes content when needed.
- Monitor trends and contribute ideas that increase audience engagement and visibility.
- Assist with community engagement by monitoring comments, messages, and interactions as assigned.
Project Management
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining high-quality work.
- Prioritize assignments in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with shifting production schedules.
- Collaborate with staff across departments to support organizational marketing goals and ensure cohesive messaging.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and relevant creative software.
- Familiarity with Canva and social media scheduling/management tools.

Schedule/Details

Development Manager

Position Purpose
Serving as a member of The Strand’s leadership team, the Development Manager leads and builds upon a strong, established contributed-revenue program in support of its strategic and annual operating plans. The position strengthens existing giving programs while identifying opportunities for continued growth across individual giving, membership, sponsorships, grants, special events, donor stewardship, and capital needs. The Development Manager cultivates relationships with donors, corporate partners, foundations, government funders, and community stakeholders while providing staff leadership to the Board’s Development Committee. Working closely with marketing, finance, programming, operations, and executive leadership, the Development Manager maintains effective fundraising systems, communications, reporting, and donor records. The ideal candidate will be skilled at engaging the community, working collaboratively with staff and board leadership, and have a passion for arts education and entertainment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Fundraising strategy and revenue
- Develop and execute an annual development plan, revenue projections, budget, and calendar aligned with the Strand’s strategic plan.
- Maintain and grow individual giving, membership, corporate sponsorship, institutional funding, special events, and donor-recognition programs.
- Track performance against established goals and adjust strategies based on results.
- Partner with executive and operations leadership to identify capital and facility needs and develop appropriate funding strategies.
Donor and community engagement
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors, sponsors, and community partners.
- Design and consistently deliver donor, sponsor, and membership benefits.
- Expand the Strand’s community presence through outreach, partnerships, performances, and development events.
- Represent the Strand professionally at community and arts-sector functions.
Grants and institutional giving
- Research foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities.
- Coordinate grant proposals, budgets, supporting materials, agreements, reports, and submission deadlines.
- Maintain accurate grant records and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
Board engagement
- Serve as staff liaison to the Board’s Development Committee.
- Equip board members with plans, information, materials, and support needed to participate effectively in fundraising.
- Encourage full board participation in giving, cultivation, introductions, and stewardship.
- Provide development reports at board and committee meetings.
Development operations and communications
- Maintain accurate donor and prospect information in the CRM and establish appropriate gift-processing, acknowledgment, reporting, and record-retention procedures.
- Produce timely fundraising forecasts, dashboards, reports, and board materials.
- Collaborate with marketing to create consistent fundraising communications across print, email, web, social media, and public relations.
- Protect donor confidentiality and follow applicable gift-acceptance, privacy, and ethical fundraising standards.
Measures of Success

Required Qualifications Include:

Theatre Technician

General Description
The Theatre Technician is responsible for assisting in all aspects of production at The Strand. This includes planning, setup, operation, strike, and maintenance of technical and stage equipment for a wide variety of in-house productions, theatre rentals, and other events booked at The Strand. Event types include but are not limited to musical theatre productions, concerts, movies, recitals, lectures, stand up comedy, fundraisers, etc.
This role requires a strong background in technical theatre, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of artists, professionals, and clients
The Theatre Technician reports directly to the Technical Director. The Technical Director reports to the Production Director. The Theatre Technician works closely with all members of the Production Department, as well as artists and professionals both internal and external.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the nature of the production or event, along with other members of the Production Department the Theatre Technician may be asked to perform duties such as:
General Technical Support:
- Provide technical support for Strand productions and events.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of theatre facilities and equipment.
- Collaborate with supervisors, other technicians, operators, designers, producers, and performers to assist in the planning and execution of events.
- Assist with the setup, construction, and strike of sets, props, and scenery.
- Operate rigging systems and ensure the safe movement of scenery and equipment.
- Coordinate with stage management and other departments to ensure smooth running of performances as assigned.
- Act as lead projectionist (digital projection) for movie screenings as assigned.
- Maintain a clean and organized stage, backstage, and dressing room area.
- Assist with other event operations as needed.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded technician with practical knowledge of live production with a specialization in one of the below areas as well as a willingness to gain skills and experience in other areas of production:
Lighting:
- Design, set up, and operation of lighting equipment for tech rehearsals and performances.
- Program and run lighting boards for performances and events, including but not limited to concerts and theatrical productions.
- Maintain and repair lighting instruments and equipment.
- Oversee the production and quality of professional-level staging and visual effects.
- Ensure proper storage and inventory of lighting equipment.
- Perform rigging and lighting duties as needed.
Sound:
- Set up, operate, and maintain sound equipment including microphones, speakers, and mixing consoles.
- Conduct sound checks and troubleshoot any audio issues during performances.
- Mix live sound for performances and events, including but not limited to concerts and theatrical productions.
- Perform load-in and load-out of band and event equipment, including cabling and patching.
- Ensure proper care and handling of all audio equipment.
- Oversee visiting audio techs during shows and events.

Schedule/Details
This is a full time salaried position. The Theatre Technician will be expected to be present for events as well as regular weekday office hours. As production schedules vary, the Theatre Technician is expected to work with the Technical Director to distribute their full-time hours appropriately throughout the week. Staff meetings are weekly on Wednesdays at 2pm and attendance is required.

Stage Manager

General Description
The Stage Manager (SM) supports the planning and execution of a theatrical production at The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre by coordinating communication, schedules, and day-to-day production logistics. Working in collaboration with the director and under the guidance of the Production Director, the SM helps move the production from rehearsal through closing and strike while supporting a safe, organized, and efficient process.
This position requires strong organizational skills, calm leadership, technical awareness, and the ability to manage both detailed logistics and interpersonal dynamics in a live performance environment.
Key Responsibilities
Rehearsals and Pre-Production
- Participate in the full rehearsal and production process from first rehearsal through closing strike.
- Read and understand the script and production concept.
- Record blocking, staging, and director’s notes, and communicate key decisions as needed.
- Assist with rehearsal scheduling and communicate call times, fittings, meetings, and schedule changes.
- Maintain rehearsal spaces, presets, and safety.
Communication and Reporting
- Serve as the primary point of communication for the production, facilitating information flow between the director, cast, designers, technicians, crew, and production staff.
- Prepare and distribute clear, timely rehearsal reports, performance reports, and technical notes to appropriate departments.
- Notify department heads of changes, notes, or concerns when they are not present.
- Communicate with Strand staff regarding building access, safety needs, front of house coordination, and performance logistics as needed.
Technical Rehearsals and Performances
- Coordinate all backstage operations during technical rehearsals and performances.
- Call lighting, sound, projection, automation, and other cues during technical rehearsals and performances.
- Conduct pre-show checks to confirm that cast, crew, and tech elements are ready prior to house opening.
- Be the director’s representative and maintain the integrity of the production once it opens.
- Monitor performance quality, pacing, safety, and consistency, addressing issues as they arise.
- Maintain backstage discipline, organization, and safety throughout the run.
- Complete performance reports noting incidents, technical issues, or maintenance needs.
Safety and Facility Responsibilities
- Become familiar with The Strand building, backstage areas, emergency procedures, and safety protocols.
- Monitor backstage conditions to ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Close down rehearsal spaces and performance areas as required after rehearsals and performances.
Post-Production
- Assist with strike in coordination with production and technical staff.
- Ensure materials are returned, stored, or reset as required.
- Complete final reports and documentation.
Work Schedule
The Stage Manager must be available for the full rehearsal and performance schedule of the production. Rehearsal and performance schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the production. The Stage Manager is expected to arrive before all other personnel and remain until all participants have left for each rehearsal and performance. Typical schedules may include:
- Evening rehearsals during the rehearsal period, often Monday through Thursday evenings and either Saturday or Sundays.
- Extended rehearsals on designer days, cue-to-cue, and technical rehearsal days.
- Evening and matinee performances during the run.

General Description
A Bartender/Event Staff employee is responsible for maintaining operations and assisting customers at The Strand concessions stand or bar and lounge spaces.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Ability to provide excellent guest service while working in a fast-paced environment
- Proper cash handling including, greet and service guests at the registers, taking orders, and accepting payments, handling cash, debit and credit cards
- Prepare food and beverage such as popcorn, candy, fountain sodas, beer, wine, and mixed drinks using standard formulas or following directions.
- Prepare bills for food, using cash registers, calculators, or adding machines; and accept payment and make change.
- Clean workspace and equipment, and clean dishes and fountain equipment
- Inventory control: Assess inventory and assist in preparing product orders as necessary
- Stock and restock items as necessary
- Ensure all sanitation procedures are followed relating to all local licensing regulations

General Description
Volunteer Ushers are an essential part of the guest experience at the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre. Ushers serve as the theatre’s front-of-house hospitality team, helping patrons feel welcomed, informed, and supported before, during, and after each performance.
This volunteer role is ideal for individuals who enjoy customer service, supporting the arts, and being part of a historic, community-focused nonprofit organization. All ushers receive training prior to working independently
Primary Responsibilities
Volunteer Ushers may be assigned a variety of front-of-house duties, including:
- Greeting patrons and providing a warm, professional welcome
- Scanning or taking tickets and assisting with audience flow
- Helping patrons locate seats and navigate the theatre
- Assisting with ADA seating, wheelchair access, and mobility needs
- Answering patron questions or locating staff when needed
- Monitoring the auditorium for disruptions, safety concerns, or guest needs
- Supporting intermission crowd movement
Ushers are expected to remain attentive and visible throughout the performance and to prioritize patron needs at all times.
Schedule and Time Commitment
- Most usher shifts occur on evenings and weekends
- Occasional daytime weekday events may require usher support
- Ushers are expected to arrive 90 minutes prior to the scheduled start time
- Ushers typically remain on duty until approximately 15 minutes after the performance begins
To remain in good standing, ushers are expected to volunteer for a minimum number of events per calendar year.
